Role Description Douglas Electric Co., Inc. is seeking an Electrical Designer/Estimator for a full-time, on-site position based in Rochester, New York. This role is responsible for supporting the design and estimating functions of commercial and industrial electrical projects from concept through bid submission.

The Electrical Designer/Estimator will work closely with the design and project management teams to develop conceptual electrical drawings, including electrical device layouts, lighting designs, power distribution one-line diagrams, and load calculations. Responsibilities also include reviewing project plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, estimating material and labor costs, evaluating project profitability, and preparing competitive bids.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and experience working with industry-standard estimating software. Success in this role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with team members, vendors, and customers while managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of CAD experience through professional or educational experience.
  • Completion of a post-secondary education program or formal electrical training program.
  • Minimum of two years of experience utilizing electrical estimating software such as Accu Bid, Con Est, or McCormick.
  • Minimum of three years of construction estimating experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and project specifications.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Valid New York State Driver's License required.

Position: Full-Time

Location: Rochester, NY

Compensation: $70,000 - $100,000 annually, based on experience
