Role Description The Electrical Engineer will work on-site in Rochester, NY in a full-time capacity, contributing to the design and documentation of electrical building systems for commercial, retail, government, healthcare, and industrial projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing power distribution layouts, performing load calculations, and designing lighting, branch circuitry, and panel schedules in coordination with mechanical and plumbing disciplines. The role involves preparing construction drawings and specifications, reviewing submittals, and assisting in responding to requests for information during construction.
The Electrical Engineer will participate in client and design team meetings, incorporate applicable codes and standards, and support project managers in meeting schedule and quality requirements. The position also includes occasional site visits for field verification, existing system assessments, and construction observation.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering and Electricity principles, with the ability to apply them to building systems.
- Proficiency in Electrical Design for MEP projects, including layout development and coordination with other disciplines.
- Experience with Power Distribution and Power Systems design, including load calculations and equipment selection.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field; EIT or PE licensure in New York State is a plus.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., NEC, energy codes) and industry design practices.
- Ability to use CAD/BIM tools (such as AutoCAD or Revit) for electrical documentation and coordination.
- Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment.
- Prior experience with commercial, healthcare, or industrial building projects is preferred but not required.
