Job Description:

The candidate will be responsible for managing large projects, from scheduling to financials. This would include BOE's for multimillion-dollar RFI's and RFQ's. Will be expected to create presentations for VP and Director level personnel. Travel to vendors and customers is not common but will be required. This is a leadership role, and the candidate must be comfortable as the SME for large projects and well knowledged in the mechanical field.

Design, development, and support of mechanical systems and equipment, with respect to ground-based satellite communication equipment. Responsibilities include development of new products, manufacturing support for existing and legacy products, and the support of subcontract vendors. Candidate will be responsible for complete mechanical, manufacturability, and reliability assessments. Candidate will guide mechanical system architecture definition, interpret technical specifications, and have ownership of control drawing development.

Technical activities include developing design concepts and detailed designs, supporting drawing creation, specifying and evaluating tolerances, and driving drawing releases. Other activities include documentation of recommendations for presentation, review, and approval. Job duties may also include leading small cross-functional teams of engineers and designers in accomplishing the above assignments. Responsibilities may include investigating solutions to product or manufacturing process issues, as well as developing product improvements.

Essential Functions:

* Experience in design of complex mechanical and electromechanical systems.

* Strong knowledge and experience with mechanical design and tolerancing, specifically Y14.5 GD&T.

* Strong analytical skills for component selection and sizing.

* Experience with managing complex projects or processes without oversight. Experience may range from concept development through to procurement and design qualification.

* Experience with defining and tracking mechanical system requirements, including work with requirement flow downs to specifications and interface definition.

* Leadership of cross-functional design and systems teams for mechanical structures and mechanisms.

* Ability to oversee vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors, with respect to our interests for mechanical integration, including technical oversight and mechanical specification development.

* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for internal and external presentations and reviews. Communication includes within and outside of own functional group to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures.

* Candidate must be a good team player, contributor, and self-starter. Candidate must be comfortable working both independently and within groups.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines from an ABET Accredited program and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

* 4 years experience with mechanical detailed design and new product development, manufacturing processes, and CAD modeling. Preferred Additional

* Experience with mechanical design and material knowledge for ruggedized communications equipment, susceptible to harsh environmental conditions.

* Experience with bearing, motor, gearbox, and brake selection.

* Experience with material selection for outdoor equipment.

* Experience with PCB mechanical integration and cable/wire management.

* Experience working on fast-paced and complicated programs, with aggressive delivery schedules.

* Knowledge and experience in MIL-STD 810G/H requirements, testing and operation of equipment.

* Experience working closely with internal/external manufacturing.

* Experience with mechanical design of military equipment or other highly regulated industries.

* Excellent problem-solving skills.
