Salary Range: $70,000 – $82,000 (Salary offer commensurate with experience)

About the Role

The Transportation Planner – Community Planning is primarily responsible for supporting the development of a range of community transportation planning projects throughout the Genesee-Finger Lakes region. This is a full-time position, and additional planning responsibilities will be assigned based on staffing needs. GTC is the federally required Metropolitan Planning Organization for the nine-county Genesee-Finger Lakes Region, including the Rochester metropolitan area and Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates Counties.

You’ll Do
  • Participate in the development of community transportation planning projects, including corridor plans; neighborhood/small-area studies; active transportation, multi-modal, and transit plans; intelligent transportation systems (ITS) plans; and freight studies.
  • Coordinate with project sponsors (state and county agencies, municipalities, etc.) to manage the development of community transportation planning projects.
  • Procure consultant services to conduct plans and studies funded through the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP), including those on behalf of local communities, utilizing established procurement and contracting procedures.
  • Oversee consultant activities on plans and studies funded through the UPWP, including those conducted on behalf of local communities.
  • Review and provide input on draft project materials.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings, including developing and delivering presentations.
  • Conduct research on transportation planning-related topics, trends, and best practices and prepare analyses documenting the application of that research to regional plans, programs, and initiatives.
  • Develop projects and initiatives that are integrated with and support related regional programs and policies, such as public safety, economic development, and land use.
  • Represent GTC at conferences and at meetings with partner agencies, project sponsors, community groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that programs and projects address all ages, abilities, and incomes, and serve the needs of all people and communities throughout the region.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
