Trust & Estate Tax Senior Accountant/Supervisor

We are seeking a dynamic Trust and Estate Tax professional to join our growing team. This role offers growth and development opportunities to assist with both personal and professional goals.

Location:

Rochester, NY office.

Work model:
You can choose to be in the office daily or work in a hybrid schedule of up to 3 remote days per week, depending on workload and office needs. Our office is in downtown Rochester with amenities including collaboration spaces, a game room, and firm-paid underground parking. Break rooms are stocked with complimentary drinks and snacks.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of Gift & Estate tax returns.
  • Maintain financial records for use in preparation of tax returns and fiduciary accounting.
  • Preparation of Federal & State fiduciary income tax returns for estates and trusts.
  • Preparation of estate and gift tax projections for estate tax planning purposes.
  • Calculations of estate and gift tax savings attributable to implementation of estate tax planning strategies.
  • Calculations of charitable contribution deductions pertaining to the funding Charitable Trusts and Foundations.
  • Preparation of final individual income tax returns for decedents.
  • Preparation of tax returns for Charitable Split Interest Trusts (a plus).
  • Preparation of fiduciary accounting reports for Estates & Trusts.
  • Research of Federal and State income tax issues relating to trusts and estates.
  • Research of Federal and State gift and estate tax issues.
  • Preparation of personal income tax returns for grantors, trustees, and beneficiaries of trusts and estates.
  • Assisting manager with responding to tax notices from the IRS and State Tax Authorities.
Qualifications

A minimum of 3 years' experience as a trust and estate accountant and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required. Experience servicing complex individuals, 1040 returns, and trust and estate returns is ideal. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong written and oral communication skills, professional demeanor, ethical conduct, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.

Ability to nurture and build the firm’s client base.

Salary Information:
The base pay range for this position is $70,000 - $92,000 annually. This range is base pay only and does not include other components of the total rewards package such as discretionary bonuses. Actual compensation is influenced by skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Hiring near the top of the range is uncommon and depends on candidate capabilities and experience.

Incentives, if any, depend on performance.
