Location: Rochester, NY office. Work where you do your best work. You can choose to be in the office daily or work in a hybrid schedule of up to 3 remote days per week, depending on workload and office needs.

Our office: located in the heart of downtown Rochester with easy access to restaurants and events, collaboration spaces, a game room, and firm-paid underground parking in a secure garage. Break rooms are fully stocked with complimentary drinks and snacks.

• Preparation of Gift & Estate tax returns.
• Maintain financial records for use in preparation of tax returns and fiduciary accounting.
• Preparation of Federal & State fiduciary income tax returns for estates and trusts.
• Preparation of estate and gift tax projections for estate tax planning purposes.
• Calculations of estate and gift tax savings attributable to estate tax planning strategies.
• Calculations of charitable contribution deductions pertaining to funding Charitable Trusts and Foundations.
• Preparation of final individual income tax returns for decedents.
• Preparation of tax returns for Charitable Split Interest Trusts (as applicable).
• Preparation of fiduciary accounting reports for Estates & Trusts.
• Research of Federal and State income tax issues relating to trusts and estates.
• Research of Federal and State gift and estate tax issues.
• Preparation of personal income tax returns for grantors, trustees, and beneficiaries of trusts and estates.
• Assisting manager with responding to tax notices from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and State Tax Authorities.

Education and Experience

A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a trust and estate accountant along with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related degree is required, with preference for more formal work experience. Ideal tax experience servicing complex individuals and 1040 returns and trust and estate returns. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective written and oral communication. Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills.

Ethical, conscientious, detail-oriented, and well organized.

In the spirit of pay transparency, the base pay range for this position is $70,000 - $92,000 annually. This range reflects base pay and does not include other components of the total rewards package such as discretionary bonuses. Compensation is influenced by skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. It is not typical to hire at the top of the range. Incentives depend on individual and firm performance.
