Support international growth while ensuring strict compliance with U.S. export regulations
A leading aerospace and defense organization is seeking a Senior Specialist, Trade Compliance to support its international business operations. This onsite role partners closely with Sales and Program Management to ensure compliance with U.S. State Department and U.S. Commerce Department regulations governing imports and exports.
This position follows a 9/80 schedule (80 hours over 9 days, with every other Friday off). No remote or hybrid options are available.
Position OverviewThe Senior Specialist, Trade Compliance is responsible for executing divisional compliance policies and providing regulatory guidance related to ITAR and EAR controlled goods. This role operates with minimal oversight, managing projects and processes that directly impact departmental results and international operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with U.S. trade regulations, export licensing, and cross-functional collaboration in a regulated defense environment.
Key Responsibilities- Execute divisional compliance policies including visitor processing, foreign travel review, and restricted party screening
- Provide regulatory guidance to business stakeholders on ITAR and EAR requirements
- Author export license and agreement applications for submission to U.S. State and Commerce Departments
- Manage export authorization recordkeeping in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Review export authorizations for accuracy and compliance with corporate trade policies
- Assess applicability of license exceptions and regulatory provisions
- Ensure departmental adherence to current U.S. Government authorization policies
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of corporate trade compliance procedures
- Partner cross-functionally to balance regulatory compliance with business growth objectives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of relevant experience
- Graduate degree with 4+ years of experience
- 10+ years of direct trade compliance experience in lieu of degree
- Strong working knowledge of ITAR and EAR regulations
- Experience managing export licenses and agreements
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- Strong project management and prioritization skills
- Ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance
- Degree in Business, Political Science, International Studies, or related field
- Experience with OCR EASE
- Strong understanding of U.S. Government authorization policies
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High integrity and discretion
- Willingness to travel if required
Salary Range: $78,000 – $145,000
