Salary Range: $43.07 - $56.90 per hour.
Performs Nuclear Cardiology studies, exercises complex judgment and knowledge of Nuclear Cardiology principles, including SPECT, SPECT/CT, PET/CT. Serves as a preceptor for newly hired Technologists, directs orientation to equipment, imaging routines, software, policies, and departmental and hospital protocols. Provides subject‑matter expertise across multiple platforms, conducts QA procedures, troubleshoots departmental issues, acts as a subject matter expert in downtime and super‑user for new equipment or programs.
Assists when needed in other department areas, represents the department on safety, quality, and operations committees, prepares for NYSDOH and TJC evaluations, supports advanced radiopharmaceutical regulatory policies, special ordering, and all aspects of IAC accreditation and readiness.
- Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
- Performs nuclear cardiology imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and the organization's policies, values, and mission.
- Orders, prepares, administers, stores, and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals per established protocols and regulations.
- Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
- Analyzes results and identifies issues with image quality, taking appropriate action to resolve them and entering, transmitting, and reporting scan results.
- Reviews patient history and physician's orders; educates patient about procedures, equipment, and the exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
- Ensures proper imaging techniques for patients of all ages and abilities, considering sight, hearing, and cooperation factors to achieve image quality.
- Reviews patient information and data interpretation to confirm an appropriate age‑specific plan and intervention.
- Serves as a preceptor in onboarding newly hired Technologists, orienting them to equipment, procedures, software, and policies.
- Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies in the Clinical Nuclear Cardiology rooms.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine from an accredited program and 4 years of experience as a Nuclear Cardiology Technician required.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider required.
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required.
- (N) ARDMS or ARRT - Nuclear Med Tech NYS licensure in Nuclear Medicine or a 6‑month temporary license while awaiting NMTCB/ARRT(N) exam.
- CNMT - Certified Nuclear Med Tech by the NMTCB required.
- CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist required.
- NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech by the ARRT required.
- CT - Cytotechnologist by NMTCB or ARRT for attenuation correction or diagnostic CT preferred.
- NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech preferred.
