Overview
The Performance Improvement Coordinator (PIC) is accountable for support to the quality, safety, regulatory, and performance improvement/lean activities within the Department of Nursing. The PIC is involved in activities at the unit, service, nursing department, and institutional level. The PIC executes initiatives and action plans as appropriate with guidance from Director of Nursing and Manager for Nursing Quality and Safety. The PIC collects and analyzes data, develops PI reports and leads improvement initiatives relating to nursing and organizational goals, patient care delivery, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
The PIC oversees PI outcomes and ensures continual progress toward strategic goals and participates in the development of nursing standards, policy, philosophy, goals and objectives, which are congruent with those determined by institution. The PIC serves as a clinical consultant for the documentation system. Coordinates the preparation of grants that are applicable to nursing department strategic goal achievement. The PIC contributes to goal achievement through personal action and the facilitation of others.
He/she participates in community and professional organizations, demonstrating commitment to the promotion of nursing's visibility and future.
