Summary

As an Access Associate Lead, you play an integral role in maintaining our high-quality standards of customer care.

STATUS: Full-Time

LOCATION: Unity Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Admitting

SCHEDULE: 7A-3P with every other weekend rotation Saturday & Sunday. Holiday Rotation.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership:
    Mentor, coach and encourage assigned team of associates, facilitate an effective workflow; assist with orientation, training, performance evaluations and disciplinary measures under the direction of a supervisor/manager.
  • Customer Service:
    Manage incoming calls and provide necessary information; greet patients and/or their representatives, provide direction as needed; schedule patient appointments; interview patients and/or their representatives to obtain necessary information.
  • Registration & Verification:
    Complete the registration process for patients and/or their representatives as defined by departmental policy; verify insurance eligibility/coverage and obtain necessary pre-certifications/authorizations when applicable.
  • Billing & Payments:
    Collect/process co-payments, deductibles and/or other types of payments; provide cost estimates when applicable; review charges in charge review WQs for completeness and accuracy.

Position Summary

In a customer service-oriented manner, interview patients and/or their representatives to collect required registration data, including but not limited to demographic and financial data, obtain required signatures, communicate mandated patient information, and verify all information for accuracy. Process includes but is not limited to insurance verification, obtaining precertification/authorization, co-payment collection and communicating with patients and/or their representatives regarding their financial assistance needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manages incoming calls while providing necessary information.
  • Greet patients and/or their representatives and provide direction as needed.
  • Schedule and/or pre-schedule patient appointments.
  • Interview the patient and/or their representative for necessary information and complete the registration process as defined by departmental policy.
  • Identify services where no payment source has been identified and follow up by communication of financial assistance and/or payment arrangements.
  • Verify insurance eligibility/coverage and obtain necessary pre-certification's/authorizations when applicable.
  • Collect/process co-payments, deductibles, and/or other types of payments; provide an estimate of cost when applicable.
  • Review charges in charge review WQs for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all data collected while meeting the regulatory requirements as outlined by the departmental policy.
  • Communicate with external customers such as payers, physician offices, and other departments.
  • Accurately set up new patient record via Care Connect.
  • If qualified, may be asked to interpret on occasion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Require flexibility and transportation to other medical group locations or affiliated locations (RGMG only).
Desired Attributes

2-year degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree preferred.

Required

Licensure/Certification Skills

One year of customer service experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work – up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Work involves sitting most of the time, with brief walking or standing periods.

Pay Range

$18.50 - $24.00
