Registered Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) is responsible for providing exceptional, evidence-based care to adult, acute care patients requiring specialized attention. The RN will manage patients with continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring, airway management, acute BIPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated medicated IV infusions, adapting quickly to individual patient needs using a multi-disciplinary approach.

Responsibilities:

- Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the IMCU.
- Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias.
- Respond to emergencies and participate in Rapid Response/Code teams.
- Administer IV therapy and perform phlebotomy, including peripheral line care and management.
- Manage respiratory care, including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management.
- Implement isolation precautions.
- Monitor patients with continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry.
- Manage patients needing airway management and acute BIPAP support.
- Care for patients with arterial lines, central lines, and those requiring titrated medicated IV infusions.
- Chart patient information using EPIC.
- Float to other units as needed.
- Assess patients, administer medications, and develop treatment plans.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum 1 year of experience.
- EPIC charting experience.
- Interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias.
- Peripheral Line Care/Management
- Nasal Cannula, Oxygen face masks, Portable Oxygen tank, Non-invasive airway management
- Isolation Precautions

Preferred Skills &

Certifications:

- Experience in Medical/Surgical or critical care environments.

Special Considerations:

- Must be able to handle a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7.
- Must be able to float to other units as needed.

Scheduling:
- 4x12 hour night shifts.
- Every other weekend required.
