The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities

The Clinical Response Coordinator (CRC) of Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network is responsible for handling referral triage calls, import organ offers from other OPO's for patients listed on the local transplant list, performing timely on‑site response to donor referrals at area hospitals and evaluating potential organ and tissue donors for suitability. The CRC will review relevant clinical information with ICU medical staff to determine care plan, neurological and hemodynamic status and communicate all assessments with Charge OPC/Administrator on Call (AOC).

The CRC may occasionally speak with potential donor families and obtain authorization, complete medical/social history and obtain appropriate bloods specimens for testing according to UNOS/OPTN policy. The CRC may coordinate Operating Room procurement of organs and tissues from potential donors. This position is on‑call for 15 days per month that includes 2 on‑call weekends.

  • Answers calls to screen and respond to organ donor referrals. Travels to donor hospitals to assess and evaluate potential organ donors. Determines medical suitability for organ and/or tissue donation through laboratory studies, medical record review and physical assessment.
  • Arranges for transportation (ground and air) of import organs and local and visiting surgical teams to travel to the donor hospital or imports.
  • Completes all FLDRN paperwork and all information in iTransplant associated with local donor referrals, organ donors, organ import offers and imported organs accurately and in a timely manner. Resolves documentation issues as identified by quality assurance deportment for post donor follow up.
  • Completes authorization forms, obtains a Donor Risk Assessment Interview (DRAI) once willingness to donate is identified and begins working on obtaining appropriate bloods.
  • Provides guidelines to maintain donor potential and stability in accordance with FLDRN protocols to optimize organ function. Provides appropriate medical information regarding potential donor's organ function to personnel at designated transplant center(s) according to the OPTN/UNOS match run list. Complies with OPTN/UNOS, New York State and FLDRN organ allocation policies.
  • Responds to the OR to complete paperwork tasks such as operative notes and medical examiner forms for completion by the procuring surgeons as needed.
  • Coordinates and communicates with all ancillary services related to recovery activity, such as medical examiner/coroners and/or pathologists as appropriate.
  • Attends clinical meetings and joint staff meetings as scheduled.

Qualifications
  • 1 year post high‑school education required.
  • 1 year of experience in a clinical or allied healthcare setting required or equivalent combination of education and experience;
    Clinical or hospital experience in ICU, pre hospital, Emergency Room and Critical care experience ACLS, TNCC preferred.
  • Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
    Effective communication and presentation skills;
    Ability to manage complex tasks and coordinate multiple time sensitive responsibilities;
