- Work Shift:
UR - Evening (United States of America) - Range: UR SEIU 024 H
- Compensation Range: $18.75 - $25.44
- Provides clerical, receptionist and customer service on patient care units while maintaining confidentiality.
- Transcription of patient care orders; schedules tests and procedures with other departments; completes and processes requisitions for tests, procedures and equipment.
- Obtains patient care equipment and/or supplies as requested by nurses and/or physicians; notifies department of equipment that is in need of repair.
- Participates in patient admissions, discharges and transfers, according to unit requirements; updates patient care forms (e.g., patient census and diet order listing).
- Greets and receives visitors and staff in a professional manner, giving appropriate directions and guidance; provides courteous and accurate telephone coverage; takes and delivers messages; triages problems to appropriate person or department.
- Maintains record of patient location when off unit.
- Communicates and works effectively with other departments on patient, staff and unit related matters; follows directions of nurses, physicians and other authorized personnel during emergencies.
- Orders supplies/forms, assures their arrival and restocks appropriately.
- Maintains clean and orderly work environment.
- Provides assistance on other units as necessary; assists with patient transport as needed.
- High school education and 1 year of clerical experience, with demonstrated legible writing and verbal communication skills; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills preferred.
