Sr. Cloud Engineer; Openstack

Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in Open Stack, with a proven track record of designing, implementing, and managing large-scale private cloud environments. This role requires extensive experience with all Open Stack modules, strong networking and security skills, and hands-on experience migrating virtual machines from VMware ESXi to Open Stack.

The Senior Cloud Engineer will play a critical role in our cloud strategy, driving innovation and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our infrastructure.

• Design, deploy, and maintain a robust and scalable Open Stack private cloud infrastructure.
• Lead the migration of our existing VMware ESXi based virtual machines to the Open Stack platform, ensuring minimal downtime and a seamless transition.
• Manage and administer all aspects of the Open Stack environment, including Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Keystone, Glance, and other modules.
• Implement and manage software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) solutions within the Open Stack environment.
• Ensure the security and compliance of the cloud infrastructure by implementing and managing security best practices, policies, and procedures.
• Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Monitor the health, performance, and capacity of the Open Stack cloud, and proactively address any issues.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to support the deployment of applications and services on the Open Stack cloud.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior members of the team.
• Stay current with the latest Open Stack developments and industry best practices, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

• 7-10 years of experience in a cloud engineering or similar role, with a focus on private cloud technologies.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Open Stack, including a deep understanding of its architecture and core components.
• Proven experience in migrating workloads from VMware ESXi to Open Stack.
• Strong experience with Linux (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu) and/or Windows Server administration.
• In-depth knowledge of networking concepts.

Compensation Range: $150K - $170K
