  • Own secure OS hardening, user/account models, and boot configurations
  • Configure and support Windows Boot loader and Linux GRUB environments
  • Partner with hardware and software engineering to enable new platforms
  • Validate OS images for manufacturing readiness, field service, and lifecycle support including system conversions and/or upgrades
  • Support sustaining engineering, root‑cause analysis, and field issue resolution related to OS/platform behavior
  • Provide image documentation and release artifacts to manufacturers and service teams
SKILLS AND/OR KNOWLEDGE SPECIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Strong hands‑on experience with Windows and Linux OS imaging and automation
  • Experience building factory‑ready OS images for commercial or embedded PC platforms
  • OS hardening, security baselines, and account configuration
  • Device driver integration and peripheral enablement
  • Scripting and automation (Power Shell, Batch, Bash; AutoIT/Ansible a plus)
  • Creation of bootable system images/environments
  • Solid understanding of PC hardware, BIOS/UEFI, storage, USB, and peripherals
  • Understanding of networking technologies including ethernet, routers/configuration, and wireless technologies
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a larger team including software, QA, service, manufacturing, and hardware teams
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter who can work effectively in a dynamic environment where goals and specifications are constantly changing
  • Ability to multitask
  • Integration of base OS with software product pre‑requisites (ex. Docker, .NET)
  • Familiarity with kernel, drivers, etc. as it relates to each OS
  • CI/CD for image builds
  • Experience supporting products in field environments
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE SPECIFICATIONS
  • Electrical, Systems, Computer, Software Engineering or related degree
