Director, AI Engineering & Agentic Platform

Role Overview

At Voya Investment Management we are building innovative, responsible, and scalable technology solutions that enable better investment outcomes. This Director, AI Engineering & Agentic Platform role focuses on designing, building, and operating production-grade AI systems—including LLM-powered applications, Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines, and agentic workflows—across investment research, distribution, and operational functions.

• Design and implement scalable AI architectures, such as LLM-powered applications, RAG systems, agentic workflows, vector search services, and model-serving layers.
• Develop reusable platform services, APIs, and design patterns to accelerate delivery across multiple teams.
• Build and operationalize AI delivery pipelines with CI/CD, prompt versioning, evaluation frameworks, and monitoring for response quality, hallucination control, latency, throughput, reliability, cost, and observability.
• Design AI systems with controls for data security, privacy, auditability, traceability, entitlements, access, and lineage to meet regulatory expectations and model‑risk standards.
• Lead the delivery of production‑grade AI systems focused on scalability, reliability, performance, and operational readiness.
• Evaluate and integrate third‑party AI platforms and tools where appropriate, driving cost‑effective architecture and Fin Ops practices.
• Partner with data engineering teams to integrate AI capabilities with Snowflake, Databricks, structured/unstructured pipelines, and enterprise data services.
• Serve as a technical leader, translating business needs into AI platform capabilities, mentoring AI/ML engineers, and driving adoption of best practices and reusable frameworks.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of software/ML/platform engineering experience and 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Hands‑on experience designing and deploying LLM-based applications, RAG systems, agentic AI workflows, vector databases, and prompt engineering.
• Strong background in building scalable, production‑grade systems with focus on reliability, observability, latency, performance, and cost optimization.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, model and artifact registries, evaluation/regression pipelines, and monitoring frameworks for ML/AI systems.
• Deep knowledge of modern data/AI platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, and API/microservices architectures.
• Experience in regulated financial services environments requiring security, privacy, governance, and auditability.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, problem‑solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Nice to have:
  Azure AI services, Copilot Studio, knowledge graphs, semantic layers, Fin Ops for AI/data platforms.

Annual base salary range: $180,000‑$190,000. Base salary is determined by experience, education, licensure, and geographic location. Additional incentive opportunities include annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long‑term incentives based on performance objectives.
