Systems Engineer

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Systems Engineer based in Rochester, NY. You will serve as a versatile technical resource, balancing hands-on engineering work with customer support and project execution. Responsibilities will range from configuring firewalls and deploying servers to troubleshooting end-user issues and supporting cloud migrations.

• Configure and maintain firewalls, switches, and wireless access points, including Fortinet and SonicWALL.
• Deploy and manage on-premises and cloud servers, including Windows Server, Hyper‑V, and VMware.
• Implement and troubleshoot backup and disaster recovery solutions such as Acronis and Veeam.

• Administer Entra  (Azure AD), including identity management, conditional access, and SSO.
• Manage endpoints through Microsoft Intune, including policies, application deployment, and Autopilot.
• Support Microsoft 365 workloads, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.

• Assist with cloud migrations, primarily Azure, and hybrid environment deployments.
• Optimize virtualized environments using VMware and Hyper‑V to support performance and scalability.

• Provide escalated technical support to clients, resolving issues ranging from network outages to user access problems.
• Lead or contribute to projects including office relocations, hardware refreshes, and security upgrades.

• Maintain detailed documentation for systems, processes, and client environments.
• Recommend and implement improvements designed to enhance system reliability and security.

• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in an MSP or IT services environment.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft technology stack, including Windows Server, Entra , Intune, and Microsoft 365.
• Hands‑on experience with networking, including firewalls, VLANs, and VPNs, as well as virtualization and cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with RMM tools and PSA platforms is a plus.

• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to diagnose technical issues under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills for working with clients and team members.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Certifications such as AZ-104 and AZ-305 are highly desired.
