Position Overview

TPA Claims Supervisor –
USI Insurance Services

Remote working is possible. Preferred location:
New York State; consideration given to candidates within the New England region. Travel to client sites is required a couple of times per month.

NYS Department of Finance Services Casualty General Adjuster License is required.

• Supervise 1 claim handler: hiring, training, performance reviews, and career development.
• Oversee activities of claim handlers within the third‑party administration (TPA) claims handling unit, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
• Provide direction, set goals, evaluate results, and ensure overall staff goals are achieved. Offer leadership, coaching, counseling, training, and guidance.
• Ensure compliance with department policies and with applicable laws, regulations, and carrier/client instructions.
• Manage ongoing claims activities: receive client claims, conduct research and information gathering, determine payments, review files for compliance and timeliness, and maintain staff diary dates.
• Visit clients regularly, maintain strong business relationships, and exchange information to support business renewal.
• Assist staff with complex work aspects as needed; resolve escalated issues by consulting with staff, management, other internal departments, outside contacts, and clients.
• Manage scheduling and assignment of work to meet deliverables and key guidelines.
• Review and evaluate activities regularly, providing management with updates and corrective actions when necessary.
• Maintain knowledge of current TPA claims developments and regulatory changes; alert staff and recommend improvements to policies and procedures.
• Engage in civic activities to promote community development and a positive image for the company.
• Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.
• Contribute to a positive, ethical, and respectful working environment and model company culture internally and externally.

• 4‑year degree or equivalent education and work experience.
• 10‑15 years of Liability claims experience (Auto and General Liability).
• Strong knowledge of Liability claims management and regulatory requirements.
• Experience and skills in coaching, training, and motivating staff.
• Ability to evaluate data and formulate claims strategy.
• Negotiation skills to resolve large claims at minimum cost.
• Ability to coordinate diverse teams to resolve claims.
• Highly organized and capable of managing high client volume.
• Strong understanding of claims management technology applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to continuing education for licensing.
• Ability to conduct sales presentations.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Travel at least a couple times per month.
