Harris, we're looking for a driven and detail-oriented Buyer to help us strategically source the materials and services that keep our government and commercial programs running at the highest level. If you're passionate about building strong supplier relationships, negotiating great deals, and making a real impact, we want to hear from you!
Essential Functions:
- Source and procure a wide range of materials and services-including electronics, cables, chemicals, software, hardware, and more-for high-impact government and commercial projects.
- Lead the end-to-end RFQ/RFP process: develop requirements, negotiate agreements, and manage contracts for both routine and complex sourcing needs.
- Evaluate supplier bids to ensure the best value for L3
Harris, balancing price, quality, delivery, and service. - Serve as the primary point of contact for key suppliers, building long-term partnerships and driving continuous improvement.
- Interpret and apply government regulations (FAR/DFAR/ITAR) related to import/export controls and certifications.
- Track and manage purchase orders, resolve discrepancies, and collaborate with receiving and accounting teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide timely updates to program teams and ensure all orders are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Analyze and solve complex procurement challenges, using data to drive decisions and improve processes.
- Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and program management teams to anticipate needs and mitigate risks for critical components.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and contribute to a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Experience with government procurement regulations (FAR/DFAR/ITAR).
- Familiarity with various production and manufacturing processes.
- Previous experience in a high-tech, defense, or aerospace environment. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and comfort working with data and reports.
- A positive, proactive attitude and a passion for problem-solving.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive tasks to completion.
