General Service Mechanic

Role Overview

We are looking for a General Service Mechanic (GSM) to support our Advanced Materials and Chemicals Division. Specifically, this person will work in Kodak Polyester Film Manufacturing Plant in Rochester, NY.

As a General Service Mechanic (GSM) you will perform a variety of tasks designed to repair, maintain, and execute building and site related improvements. This GSM uses independent judgment in making decisions without the immediate direction of supervision.

This position requires the Mechanic to be open minded throughout the workday with the wide range of responsibilities that go along with the job. It is a self-directed role that must adapt to the many different challenges that are required to be successful.

• Monitors performance of building and emergency lighting.
• Monitors performance of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems for the facility; performs non-technical maintenance tasks such as cleaning of heating and cooling fan coil units and filter replacement.
• Monitors and performs non-technical maintenance of plumbing systems, to include standard repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, replacing water filters, assisting pipe fitters and pipe insulators.
• Manage and maintain inventory of building supplies.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Works in our Filter Cleaning Room and Chain Room, disassembling, cleaning and reassembling production equipment.

• Ability and willingness to learn new skills: PM cooling fans, lubrication route, forklift and man-lift.
• Good verbal and written communication skills for communicating with team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work cooperatively within a team environment.

• High School diploma or GED.

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25lbs/12kg.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, bend, talk, and hear.
• Work on a ladder or extended man lifts (heights).
• Work may require employee to be exposed to inclement weather conditions.

This is a day shift position likely working 6AM to 2:30PM M-F.
