Location: City of Rochester

Shift Manager (Operations/Warehouse) - On-Site | 2nd Shift

A rapidly scaling, tech-forward distribution company is seeking a Shift Manager to support an established, high-volume facility. This is a new role. This is an on‑site position and open to local candidates only.

Compensation: $70,000-$90,000

2nd Shift: 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM

Role Overview

The Shift Manager will oversee all warehouse operations on their shift, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment. This individual must be highly organized, strong with numbers and Excel, and comfortable navigating ambiguity while leading a team.

The role reports to the New York Director of Operations and works closely with other hubs, including the Bronx warehouse (CDL driver operations).

Key Responsibilities
  • 30+ direct reports, including a supervisor
  • Lead and manage shift‑level warehouse and fulfillment operations, including inbound and outbound workflows
  • Ensure timely, accurate order fulfillment and maintain SLA compliance
  • Track daily volume, throughput, and team performance; coach and develop associates and supervisors
  • Maintain and improve SOPs; ensure adherence across the shift
  • Forecast staffing needs and manage scheduling
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, partners, and vendors
  • Collaborate with Central Operations, People, and other departments to ensure seamless operations
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to inventory tracking and reporting
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data, analytics, and technology
  • Maintain operational stability during high‑pressure or rapidly changing conditions
KPI Ownership

Shift Managers are responsible for shift‑level KPIs and monthly reporting to the NY Director of Ops. They must understand how shift metrics connect to company‑wide OKRs and individual performance.

  • Strong supervisors ready for the next step are encouraged to apply
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and manage teams of 30+ employees
  • Excellent Excel proficiency (tested during interview process)
  • Strong project management skills and comfort with ambiguity
  • Experience with SOP creation, implementation, or optimization
  • Background in warehouse, logistics, or distribution (cannabis or similar industries preferred)
  • Experience with inbound/outbound tracking, staffing forecasting, and vendor coordination
  • High empathy, strong communication skills, and ability to work with diverse teams
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and adaptable in a startup‑like environment
  • High EQ, low ego, and willingness to pitch in—including hands‑on work when needed
  • Familiarity with MS Office and business software (ERP/CRM)
  • Must be 21+, able to lift 50 lbs., and perform physical warehouse tasks
  • Degree preferred but not required
