Description
Job SummaryThe Deburring Specialist is responsible for removing burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections from machined, punched, laser-cut, or fabricated metal parts to ensure parts meet quality, safety, and customer specifications. This role plays a critical part in final part quality, downstream assembly, and overall production flow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Remove burrs, sharp edges, slag, and surface defects from metal parts using hand tools, power tools, and/or deburring equipment
- Read and interpret work orders, prints, and quality requirements
- Inspect parts visually and with basic measuring tools to ensure conformance to specifications
- Perform secondary finishing operations such as sanding, grinding, polishing, brushing, or tumbling
- Maintain consistent quality and finish standards across parts
- Identify and communicate quality issues, defects, or recurring problems to supervisors or quality personnel
- Handle parts safely to prevent damage or injury
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and efficiency
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production needs
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and hand tool experience
- Ability to read basic blueprints and follow work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as required
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Experience deburring machined, laser-cut, punched, or fabricated metal parts
- Familiarity with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, or gauges
- Experience working with aluminum, steel, stainless steel, or other metals
- Knowledge of manufacturing quality standards
- Attention to detail and consistency
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Time management and ability to meet production deadlines
- Commitment to safety and quality
- Manufacturing shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery
- Use of hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment
- PPE required as necessary
