1st Shift Supervisor is an hourly associate, who plans, organizes, leads, and controls production operations in accordance with customer and Atalys standards. This individual must be highly motivated and require minimal supervision. An ability to create a safe, productive work atmosphere based on integrity, open communications, and mutual respect is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Supervises all personnel responsible for production, material handling and mold setting.
- Monitor, promote and enforce safe practices at all times.
- Coordinate activities to ensure safe working environment.
- Monitor and enforce compliance to attendance policy and all other policies as per company handbook on a daily basis.
- Promptly attend and resolve shift employee conflicts as required.
- Promote subordinate involvement and promptly address respective requests and concerns.
- Ensure high quality transition between shifts in all production aspects.
- Accurately and promptly communicate deviation in plan to all affected areas.
- Proactively identify areas of concern (safety, quality, delivery, morale) promptly and accurately.
- Promptly communicate changes and assignments to subordinates.
- Frequently audit all subordinate activities to ensure 100% compliance to their respective responsibilities, assignments and safety.
- Validate that scrap parts are non‑compliant to quality standards prior to disposal.
- Coordinate time and resources to validate that all subordinates are properly trained when assigned to their working areas.
- Promptly and effectively communicate with co‑workers.
- Ensure readiness of all resources required to meet 100% production schedule requirements at all times.
- Ensure readiness of all resources required to meet production scrap, machine efficiency and labor efficiency goals established by upper management.
- Enforce containment of defective product at the source and coordinate activities to promptly manage or correct the problem.
- Monitor and enforce 5S standards.
- Support, lead, and maintain Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Create, revise and audit standard work.
- Participate in root cause analysis.
- Administers performance evaluations as necessary.
- Trains subordinates as needed.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by upper management.
- Strong leader, previous experience with direct reports preferred.
- Hands‑on working knowledge of injection molding processes.
- Effective communications both written and oral.
- Computer:
Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point preferred.
- High school diploma/GED equivalent.
- 2 years experience supervisor/training in the manufacturing environment preferred.
- Must be a team player, capable of motivating and working well with others.
- Must be able to multitask, prioritize, manage time efficiently.
- Ability to work overtime as needed and on short notice.
- Ability to twist, bend, climb, stoop, and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Required to wear and use various types PPE including but not limited to Safety glasses and Hearing Protection.
- Plant floor is not climate controlled. May be exposed to various temperatures depending on outside weather conditions and temperatures.
