Harris is seeking an experienced Electrical Assembler to support the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing plans and processes. This role will focus on electrical assembly and production readiness to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and repeatable manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams including design engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations to transition products from development into production, support rate increases, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the factory floor.
Essential Functions:
* Assemble electrical components and subassemblies using common hand tools and basic power tools.
* Read and follow work instructions, assembly drawings, parts lists, and standard operating procedures.
* Install brackets, panels, fasteners, mounts, cable supports, and other hardware according to specifications.
* Perform electrical fitting, alignment, and basic adjustment of system components to ensure proper assembly and function.
* Verify parts and materials before installation to ensure correct part numbers, quantities, and configuration.
* Use measuring devices such as tape measures, rulers, calipers, and torque tools to meet assembly and tolerance requirements.
* Safely handle components, assemblies, and palletized structures during build operations.
* Support integration of mechanical assemblies with electrical and cable-routing elements as directed.
* Inspect completed work for quality, completeness, and workmanship; identify and report discrepancies, defects, or damaged parts.
* Maintain accurate production and assembly records, including checklists and completion documentation.
* Follow established safety procedures, PPE requirements, and tool-control practices at all times.
* Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with 5S housekeeping standards.
* Assist with packaging, pallet preparation, labeling, and movement of completed assemblies when required.
* Work closely with team leads, quality personnel, and engineering support to resolve basic assembly issues.
* Participate in continuous improvement efforts to improve assembly efficiency, quality, and consistency.
* Perform other related mechanical assembly duties as assigned in support of production goals
* Traversing across the production floor for the duration of their shift (up to 12 hours).
Qualifications:
* Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. Preferred Additional
Skills:
* Basic knowledge of electrical assembly methods, techniques, and shop practices.
* Familiarity with common hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and measuring devices used in assembly operations.
* Basic understanding of mechanical drawings, blueprints, assembly instructions, and parts lists.
* Knowledge of standard fastening methods, hardware identification, and component installation practices.
* Basic awareness of quality standards, workmanship requirements, and inspection processes.
* Understanding of workplace safety procedures, proper tool usage, PPE requirements, and safe material handling practices.
* Familiarity with production flow, work order processes, and assembly documentation
* Minimum 2-5 years 'experience assembling electro/mechanical hardware
* Knowledge of IPC
* Good to excellent assembly instruction reading skills.
* Must be able to read and understand both written and verbal instructions in English.
* Good understanding of hardware requirements. In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state is $17.75 - $30.52.
