Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Welding Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities include developing welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to fabricate metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.

Responsibilities
  • Develop weld profiles and processes that are appropriate for the materials and application of the product.
  • Design fixtures required for welding and fabrication using Solidworks models and drawings.
  • Develop and monitor processes to meet ASME Codes, analyzing weld coupons and creating reports (CWI certification).
  • Write and maintain Welding Procedure Standards (WPS) for general and specific welding applications.
  • Direct and coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; test welds for conformance with code requirements or certify welding personnel.
  • Proficiently implement MIG, TIG and Resistance Welding processes, and be familiar with welding equipment and consumables used in production welding.
  • Support and troubleshoot welding manufacturing processes, optimize production capabilities, and drive welding improvements.
  • Observe and monitor weld processes for conformance to established WPS as Welding Coordinator.
  • Possess general knowledge of metal fabrication processes, techniques, and engineering including CNC blanking, press brakes, stamping, machining, and finishing processes.
  • Collaborate and communicate across cross‑functional departments to innovate and improve welding processes used to manufacture products.
  • Explore new welding technologies that can improve productivity and quality and facilitate entry into new markets or provide a competitive advantage.
  • Apply problem‑solving skills with an analytical approach and attention to detail; direct data collection for analysis of weld processes.
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture by focusing on problem solving to drive improvements in safety, quality, operational performance, customer satisfaction, and overall financial health of the company.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering and 3-5 years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in welding process development.
  • Experience in use of robotics.
  • Computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Solidworks, and robotic programming.
  • Ability to read blueprints, knowledge of business practices and protocols, and ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Good communication skills to develop reports and verbally communicate with different levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently independently, cross‑functionally, or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively with shop floor employees and adjust work schedule as needed.
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments and changing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with MRP software and PLEX.
  • High level of skill in reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; presenting information to managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • High level of mathematical skill including probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, and application of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • High level of reasoning ability: solving practical problems and interpreting instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
