Location: City of Rochester

Kodak is looking for Coating Operators to join our team in Kodak’s Advanced Materials and Chemicals Division in Rochester, NY. Operators work in various roles involved in manufacturing the highest-quality light-sensitive coated products. Depending on qualifications and experience, operator candidates will be assigned one of these teams:
Coating, Chemical, or Quality.

Coating

Our unique coating machines create the PET film base and coat light-sensitive materials onto the film. Operators ensure machines run smoothly and coated products are free from imperfections.

Chemical

Operators prepare all coating materials—solvents, dyes, emulsions—using precise processes and manage large quantities of chemicals. Understanding chemical safety data sheets is helpful.

Quality

Operators inspect newly coated films for structural or sensitivity defects affecting functionality and salability. A background in science may be helpful.

Work Conditions
  • Work in both light and dark room conditions.
  • Work 11‑hour days or 12‑hour rotating shifts, including overnights and possibly weekends.
Required Skills and Experience for All Operators
  • Detail-oriented team player.
  • Flexible between multiple positions, capable of multitasking.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Prioritize work to meet business needs.
  • Communicate clearly, both written and verbal, and comprehend a variety of work requests.
  • Willing to work overtime or adjust schedule for business needs.
  • Able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to obtain Power Industrial Truck (fork truck) license at Kodak.
  • Require walking, standing, and frequent lifting, carrying, pulling, and pushing, with occasional awkward positions.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Strict adherence to safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Computer proficiency, including navigating screens and data entry.
  • Responsibility for specific manufacturing processes, inputs, outputs, and troubleshooting.
  • Involved in product quality and process improvement activities.
  • Interact with engineers, technicians, and maintenance personnel.
Additional Preferred Skills and Experience
  • At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of film photography.
  • Understanding of thin‑film coating processes.
  • Strong problem‑solving, data analysis, and computer abilities (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Outlook, One‑LIMS, Felix, and the SAP system.
