Manufacturing Process Engineer

The Manufacturing Process Engineer develops, maintains, and optimizes production schedules and resource plans to support the efficient assembly of sanitary units for rail vehicles. This role serves as a critical link between engineering, procurement, and production teams, ensuring on-time delivery, cost control, and strict adherence to quality and safety standards across all stages of manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage detailed production plans and schedules that align with customer delivery timelines and internal capacity constraints.
  • Coordinate closely with procurement, logistics, and engineering teams to ensure material availability and technical readiness for all production activities.
  • Monitor the progress of assembly operations, identify bottlenecks or delays, and adjust production plans to maintain on-time delivery.
  • Analyze production data and key performance indicators to improve workflow efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance overall productivity.
  • Collaborate with quality and compliance teams to ensure all processes adhere to applicable industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Interface with suppliers and external partners to align lead times, delivery schedules, and technical requirements.
  • Prepare regular reports and updates for leadership on project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing practices and 5S implementation.
  • Manage bills of materials (BOM) and engineering changes within SAP to ensure accurate and up-to-date production data.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including work instructions, self-checks, PFMEA, process diagrams, and packaging documents.
  • Follow up on online production incidents by maintaining and updating an incident register file and coordinating corrective actions.
  • Control and verify labels according to the current version and configuration management requirements.
  • Identify and implement tools and process improvements that enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and consistency.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to align production plans with engineering changes, customer requirements, and operational constraints.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in production planning or project engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting or working within assembly and manufacturing processes, particularly in process engineering or manufacturing engineering functions.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, specifically SAP, for managing bills of materials and production data.
  • Experience with planning tools such as MS Project or Primavera for scheduling and project coordination.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and process improvement within a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret production data and KPIs to drive decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, logistics, production, quality, and external partners.
  • Experience creating and maintaining project documentation such as work instructions, PFMEA, and process diagrams.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in rail industry manufacturing or sanitary systems manufacturing is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices.
  • Familiarity with PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and its application in process development and risk mitigation.
  • Experience with manufacturing process development, including tooling and assembly optimization.
  • Knowledge of CAD tools such as CATIA and Solid Works to support process engineering and tooling design is advantageous.
  • Background in project management, including project documentation and coordination across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with configurable management and label control processes.
  • Ability to identify, document, and follow up on production incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing environment focused on the assembly of sanitary units for rail vehicles. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, logistics, quality, and production. The position involves regular use of ERP systems such as SAP, planning tools like MS Project or Primavera, and productivity tools including the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
