We are seeking a hands-on Waste Treatment / Plating Technician to support metal finishing and industrial wastewater treatment operations within a manufacturing environment. This position will be responsible for maintaining plating and chemical treatment processes, treating wastewater generated by manufacturing operations, monitoring chemical levels, and ensuring processes remain safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant.

Job Details

What You'll Do

• Operate and monitor plating, metal finishing, and wastewater treatment equipment
• Prepare, maintain, and adjust chemical baths and treatment solutions
• Monitor pH, chemical concentrations, conductivity, temperature, and other process parameters
• Perform chemical additions and adjustments to maintain proper plating and treatment conditions
• Treat industrial wastewater through processes such as pH adjustment, precipitation, neutralization, filtration, and solids removal
• Collect samples and perform routine testing of plating baths, process water, and wastewater
• Monitor tanks, pumps, filters, piping, chemical feed systems, and related equipment
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of tanks, filters, and treatment equipment
• Maintain accurate chemical usage, treatment, inspection, and environmental records
• Properly handle, label, store, and dispose of chemicals, sludge, and hazardous materials
• Troubleshoot plating quality and wastewater treatment issues
• Follow OSHA, EPA, DEC, hazardous waste, and company safety requirements
• Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and EHS to support manufacturing operations

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of experience in plating, metal finishing, industrial wastewater treatment, chemical processing, or a related manufacturing environment
• Experience working with chemical baths and industrial chemicals
• Understanding of pH control, chemical treatment, filtration, precipitation, and/or neutralization
• Ability to perform basic chemical testing and accurately document results
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot pumps, tanks, filters, valves, and related equipment
• Understanding of safe chemical handling and PPE requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work around chemicals and industrial equipment
• High school diploma or GED required

Preferred Experience

• Electroplating or metal finishing experience
• Nickel, zinc, chrome, copper, anodizing, or similar plating process experience
• Industrial wastewater treatment experience within a manufacturing facility
• Hazardous waste handling and environmental compliance experience
• Experience with chemical feed systems, filter presses, clarifiers, or sludge handling
• HAZWOPER, wastewater treatment, or related environmental certifications
