Schedule: Rotating D/E/N shifts (Days/Evenings/Nights), Weekends, Holidays, On-Call, Callback, and Charge duties as per unit needs
We are actively seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Psychiatric Emergency Room (Psych ER) team in Rochester, NY. This Level 1 role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in high-acuity, fast-paced behavioral health settings and is confident managing psychiatric crises with professionalism and empathy.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive psychiatric intake assessments, including interviews with patients and family members
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans
- Assess medical and emotional status and establish nursing diagnoses
- Collaborate with psychiatrists and interdisciplinary behavioral health teams to design and coordinate treatment plans
- Administer psychotropic and other prescribed medications; monitor and document patient responses
- Monitor vital signs and assess pain levels; initiate appropriate interventions
- Provide crisis intervention and therapeutic support
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients and staff
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with healthcare regulations
- Coordinate additional medical care or referrals when necessary
- Perform unit-based administrative tasks as required
- Deliver professional and courteous service to patients, families, and the public
- Active New York RN License – Required
- BLS Certification (AHA) – Required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Psychiatric and/or Emergency Room nursing experience
- Strong crisis management and de-escalation skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments
