Responsibilities
- Completes defined scope and standards of practice.
- Engages in environmental scanning to identify practice gaps and collaborates with others in improving practice and healthcare outcomes.
- Functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty, and partner for practice transitions.
- Supports learning, change, professional role competence and growth, which ultimately lead to optimal patient care, population health, and protection of the public.
- Full time Monday – Friday, Days/Evenings with on‑call responsibilities.
- The Nurse Educator is a vital member of the perioperative leadership team.
- This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that support the clinical competence, professional development, and regulatory compliance of OR nursing staff.
- The Nurse Educator fosters a culture of continuous learning and excellence in trauma‑informed, high‑acuity surgical care.
- Responsibilities include development and delivery of orientation programs for newly hired perioperative nurses and surgical technologists, including the planning and coordination of ongoing competency assessments.
- This role also designs continuing education programs for a variety of surgical specialties based on evidence‑based practice.
- Candidates must be Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state of New York.
- Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Master’s in Nursing or Education required.
- Must have a minimum of 3–5 years of recent experience in an OR setting, preferably in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) required.
