Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care for patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures and medical neurology patients in the Neuromedical ICU.
- Conduct admission work‑ups, daily management, procedures, and transfer/discharge activities.
- Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement, educational conferences, rounds, student precepting, and support unit‑based nurses and leadership.
- Maintain independent and flexible practice, demonstrating excellent clinical skills in critical care.
- NP/PA:
Must hold an active New York State Registered Nurse license and New York State Nurse Practitioner license (for NP) or active New York State Physician Assistant license (for PA), plus current national certification (NP: Acute Care NP or NCCPA; PA: NCCPA). - Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner or completion of an ARC‑PA approved Physician Assistant program.
- Experience in acute care NP certification or NCCPA is required; neurosurgical or neurology experience is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication, interpersonal effectiveness, customer‑relation skills, computer competence, and a desire to learn.
- Will participate in education of learners (students and new employees) through clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing, and skill training.
