Full time, Regular. Weekly hours: 40. Shift: UR – Rotating. Compensation range: $65,125.00 – $87,921.00, set within the job’s pay range for each applicant.
NP/PA Full‑time position (Monday – Thursday, holidays two required). The APP Fellowship in Neonatology at The University of Rochester Medical Center is a 12‑month postgraduate specialty training and mentorship program for APPs – NPs and PAs. The program is 75% clinical and 25% didactic, with side‑by‑side education with the UR Medicine Pediatric Residency and Neonatal Fellowship programs. It includes core neonatal medicine, specialty rotations, and protected time for quality or research projects.

- Offsite Rotations: PCICU, Pediatric Surgery, Lactation, Vascular Access Team, Infant Toddler Developmental Clinic, Perinatal Supportive Care Clinic, and others as arranged or desired
- Neonatal Procedural Skills Lab
- NICU Simulations
- Mentorship for QI or Research involvement
- Weekly required conferences
- Care for neonates in collaboration with Attending Neonatologists, other APPs and residents while maintaining a high level of autonomy to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Complete daily patient evaluations and assessments; document pertinent findings in patient record.
- Order and interpret radiographic, laboratory and other diagnostic tests.
- Obtain medical history and perform comprehensive physical examinations.
- Instruct and counsel patients and families in collaboration with other health team members.
- Perform routine procedures and emergency procedures such as umbilical line placement (UA/UV), endotracheal intubation, central line placement, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, circumcision, and delivery‑room stabilization and management of neonates.
- Serve as consultant to the birth center and newborn nursery covering provider; cover care of well newborns as needed.
- Write medication and other medical orders.
- Coordinate and manage discharges from the NICU with Care Coordinators and Attending Neonatologist.
- Provide education for NP and PA students, APP fellows and residents on rotation in the NICU.
- Involvement in QI or Research Track is required.
- Presentations throughout fellowship:
Journal Club, Case Presentations, QI or Research Presentation, and Literature Review Presentation.

QualificationsNurse Practitioner applicants must hold a Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing, and current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
Physician Assistant applicants must have completed an ARC‑PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing, and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA.
Applicants (NPs and PAs) must demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness, customer‑relationship skills, computer competence, and an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing, and skill training.
