Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Level 2 NICU team. This role focuses on providing specialized care to infants 33 weeks and above, with an emphasis on women's health services rather than traditional critical care. The nurse will also be responsible for attending C-section cases in the OR to assist with "baby catching."

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care to neonates in a Level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
  • Monitor infant vital signs, growth, and development, and administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate and support parents and families on infant care, feeding, and discharge planning.
  • Assist with "baby catching" in the Operating Room during Cesarean section deliveries.
  • Float to the Post Partum unit as needed to provide baby care.
Schedule / Shift
  • 3x12 Night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Rotating weekend shifts required.
Required Qualifications
  • Valid New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • BLS certification.
  • NRP certification.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of recent RN experience.
Experience
  • At least 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience.
  • Experience with premature infants and critically ill newborns.
  • Experience with "baby catching" in the OR for C-section cases.
Skills
  • Proficient in neonatal assessment and care.
  • Ability to manage complex patient care needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Competency in infant resuscitation.
EMR / Systems
  • EPIC charting experience is required.
Patient Population
  • Neonates, specifically infants 33 weeks and above.
Unit / Specialty
  • Level 2 NICU
  • Women's Health Service
Floating / On-Call
  • Willingness to float to the Post Partum unit for baby care.
