Position: Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Location: City of Rochester

Overview

Registered Nurse – Med/Surg, Rochester, NY. Travel assignment starting 08/03/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay range: $2,049 to $2,198 per week. Shift: 12-hour rotations (days/evenings/nights). Work in an inpatient unit focused on end-of-life symptom management with general medicine overflow. Telemetry experience is NOT required.

  • Inpatient unit with adult patients (18+), end-of-life symptom management and general medicine overflow
Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct bedside nursing care to adult patients on the unit, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
  • Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and respond promptly; advocate for patients and families in crisis
  • Administer medications and therapies per protocol, including IV therapy and wound care; manage analgesia needs and chart outcomes
  • Support symptom management at end of life, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and palliative care services
  • Perform accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses; ensure safety and quality standards
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team; participate in rounds and care conferences
  • Rotate through D/E/N shifts and participate in weekends/holidays as required by unit need
Requirements
  • Active NYS RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of recent palliative or acute med/surg experience
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Experience with patient-controlled analgesia pumps or CHPN certification highly desired
  • Ability to work in an inpatient adult unit; strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex patient needs and family conversations; comfortable with on-call per unit needs
Education

Active NYS RN license required
