The Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) - RN 2 position at Strong Memorial Hospital involves providing direct patient care in an outpatient setting, focusing on complex lactation needs. This role is ideal for those with a strong background in lactation care and a commitment to supporting families.

• Provide competent direct patient care based on established standards.
• Contribute to unit activities and support enhancement of the care delivery system.
• Support peers in the delivery of patient care services.
• Assume expanded roles including charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities.
• Work closely with a Breastfeeding Medicine provider to address complex breastfeeding issues.
• Promote breastfeeding/chest feeding/lactation and support staff through education and empowerment.
• Communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare team.
• Serve as a resource to other team members, including learners and observers.

Education:

• IBCLC or CLC certification required
• RN degree required

Experience:

• Strong background in lactation care for complex maternal‑infant dyads

Licenses &

Certifications:

• Current RN License in New York
