RN - Neurology

This is a 13-week contract position with a schedule consisting of either three 12-hour shifts, a combination of two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts, or five 8-hour shifts, depending on departmental needs. Rotating weekends and holidays may be required as needed, and on-call or callback duties are also part of this role.

As a Registered Nurse First Assistant, you will play a critical role in surgical procedures by providing direct assistance alongside the surgical team. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Applying tourniquets as ordered and employing aseptic techniques.
• Securing drainage systems to tissue and managing insertion of drainage tubes.
• Clamping and cauterizing vessels or tissues during procedures.
• Counting sponges and related items with the circulating nurse accurately.
• Performing wound dressing and suturing of all wound layers, including muscle and fascia.
• Utilizing isolation precautions and PPE to maintain a safe operating environment.
• Providing direct digital pressure and manipulation of tissue as necessary.

• A minimum of 2 years of charge experience is required.
• A valid NY state license is required prior to submission.
• Experience with Epic charting system is a hard requirement.
• Candidates should expect to float to other Neuroscience locations and the RGH OR as needed.
• This position accepts first time travelers.
