About This Role

The Lactation Consultant – Level 2 RN at Strong Memorial Hospital is responsible for providing competent direct patient care and supporting breastfeeding for all newborns, including those with complex medical needs. This role is ideal for those passionate about lactation support and maternal health.

• Pay: $37.12 - $50.11/hour
• Location: Rochester, NY
• Facility: Strong Memorial Hospital
• Schedule: Full-time, Rotating shifts

• Provide direct patient care based on established standards.
• Support breastfeeding for healthy newborns and high‑risk neonates.
• Facilitate and monitor individualized infant feeding plans.
• Educate nursing staff and learners on evidence‑based breastfeeding practices.
• Ensure timely documentation and follow‑up planning.
• Assist with connecting families to community resources.
• Complete CLC training during onboarding if not already certified.
• Complete IBCLC training within 2 years of hire.
• Support peers in the delivery of patient care services.
• Assume expanded roles such as charge nurse and preceptor.

• RN license required

• 2 years of RN experience in a hospital setting required

• Lactation certification preferred (CLC training during onboarding, IBCLC within 2 years)
