American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring an active NY RN license and EPIC charting experience.
Details- Work in a state-of-the-art, 24/7 Emergency Department at a teaching hospital
- Adult and geriatric patient population with all emergency-type diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Uses specialized equipment including Bair hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
- EPIC charting experience required
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7p-7a
- Every other weekend requirement
- Every other holiday requirement, if needed
- Floating required within skillset
- Active New York Single State RN license required in hand (NY is not a compact state)
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (valid NIHSS must be included in submission)
- PALS certification required; TNCC preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
- CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management experience
- Experience with CVA (stroke), neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care
- Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
- Emergency care experience with adult/pediatric ED cases including gunshot wounds and ortho trauma
- Experience with isolation precautions, triage, and pediatric spinal cord injury
- Experience managing psychiatric patients including acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior, and suicidal patients
- Provide emergency nursing care across a combined adult/pediatric ED, including a dedicated pediatric ED and discreet crisis intervention unit
- Facility is a Magnet-recognized, 528-bed acute care teaching hospital and certified Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
- Trauma suite located near the ambulance entrance for immediate stabilization of critical patients
- Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy blue and white
- Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without penalty
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
- Previous staff must have completed assignment at least 6 months ago to be eligible for rehire
