Overview

Registered Nurse – First Assist (RNFA) travel assignment in Rochester, New York.

Start date:

08/03/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $2,884–$3,021 per week. Guaranteed hours: 0.0. Shift: 12‑hour days. Setting: hospital environment within a travel, temporary assignment.

  • Travel assignment in a hospital; on‑call responsibility per unit need (until 11 pm); no weekends or holidays unless required by unit
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the surgeon and healthcare team to perform surgical procedures safely as the RN First Assistant
  • Practice perioperative nursing and perform RNFA duties during the operative phase, under the surgeon’s direction
  • Scrub and circulate as appropriate, maintaining sterile technique and coordinating instrument exchanges
  • When not assigned to the RNFA role, fulfill standard OR RN duties (staff nurse responsibilities)
  • Monitor patient status, document perioperative care, and communicate findings to the team
  • Support robotic‑assisted surgery, with DaVinci experience preferred and required in this role
Requirements
  • NY licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
  • CNOR certification required
  • Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant (RNFA) program
  • Two (2) years OR experience; level 1 trauma experience preferred
  • DaVinci/robotic experience required; robotic urology, gynecology, colorectal, surgical oncology (e.g., Whipple, gastrectomies, hernias), thoracic, and general surgery cases listed as relevant
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Ability to scrub and circulate; strong perioperative nursing knowledge
  • NY state clinical practice eligibility and compliance with facility policies
