Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical​/Tele

Medical Surgical/Tele RN Opportunity

The Medical Surgical/Tele RN is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care in a hospital setting, focusing on medical and surgical units with telemetry oversight. This role requires proficiency in IV placement, phlebotomy, and interpretation of cardiac rhythms to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Administer direct patient care in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
• Perform phlebotomy and IV insertion as a core competency for all assigned patients.
• Monitor patient vital signs, blood glucose levels, and perform EKGs with accuracy.
• Recognize and interpret dysrhythmias, managing associated protocols and interventions.
• Document patient care activities thoroughly in Epic electronic charting system.
• Float within scope to different units as needed, maintaining flexibility to meet facility demands.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid NY RN license in hand prior to assignment.
• Have at least 1 year of recent experience in Medical Surgical or Telemetry units.
• Demonstrate proficiency in phlebotomy, IV placement, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
• Hold BLS certification; additional certifications such as ACLS preferred.
• Able to adapt to rotating day/evening/night shifts, including 12-hour night shifts.
• Capable of working within a team environment, managing multiple patient care tasks efficiently.
