American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring an active NY RN license, EPIC experience, and at least 2 years of ED experience.
Details- 13-week contract in a hospital emergency department
- Combined adult and pediatric ED treating all emergency diagnoses including CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, TBI, and gunshot wounds
- Patient ratio of 1:5 with adult and geriatric populations
- Alternating 12-hour day (11a-11p) and night (7p-7a) shifts
- Every other weekend requirement
- Every other holiday coverage if needed
- Floating required within skillset
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Specialized equipment includes Bair hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
- Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without incurring charges
- Active New York Single State RN license required in hand (NY is not a Compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- PALS certification required
- TNCC certification preferred
- EPIC charting experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with IV vasopressors and continuous IV sedation
- Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
- Experience managing CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI patients
- Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
- Experience in emergency care including gunshot wounds and ortho trauma
- Skilled in isolation precautions, triage, and psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, and managing violent or suicidal patients
- Arterial line management experience preferred
- Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun preferred
- Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of adult and pediatric diagnoses in a high-acuity, trauma-ready environment
- Work in a state-of-the-art, 24/7 ED with a centralized layout, dedicated pediatric ED, discreet crisis intervention unit, and trauma suite near the ambulance entrance
- Facility is a 528-bed Magnet-recognized academic teaching hospital certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
- Facility is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park
- Scrub color must be any combination of navy blue and white
- Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous employees must have at least 6 months since their last assignment with the health system
