Job Summary:
The PCU RN provides specialized nursing care for patients requiring intermediate monitoring and treatment, ensuring safe and effective patient outcomes. This role involves collaboration with healthcare teams to deliver evidence-based care in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Administer bedside patient care, including critical assessments and interventions for neurologically and medically complex patients.
- Interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and manage emergency response situations, including rapid response and code teams.
- Monitor and manage IV therapy, peripheral lines, and phlebotomy procedures with precision.
- Document patient data accurately using EPIC charting system and ensure compliance with documentation protocols.
- Implement isolation precautions and respiratory support measures, including oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and modify patient care plans, focusing on stroke and neurological disorder management.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid New York RN license in hand, with at least 2 years of acute care experience.
- Possess current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Demonstrate proficiency in EPIC charting and cardiac monitoring, including interpretation of dysrhythmias.
- Be able to manage 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratios in a Med Surg/IMC/PCU setting.
- Have experience caring for stroke unit patients and knowledge of isolation and neurological precautions.
- Be within a 75-mile radius of the facility or willing to float as required.
