Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical​/Tele

Job Summary:

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide quality patient care in a tertiary care hospital's complex medicine and orthopedic overflow unit. The RN will manage long-term and acute care patients, ensuring compliance with hospital protocols and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patient conditions, documenting findings accurately in the EPIC electronic medical record system.
• Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies following established protocols.
• Manage invasive lines including PICC, central lines, and peripheral IVs, ensuring proper care and documentation.
• Respond swiftly to Rapid Response and Code Blue situations, collaborating with team members.
• Maintain infection control and isolation precautions, and oversee wound care including wound vac management.
• Educate patients and their families on care plans and discharge instructions.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current NY Registered Nurse license in hand, with no exceptions.
• Possess a minimum of 2 years of recent Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience.
• Demonstrate proficiency with EPIC charting software.
• Have active BLS and NIHSS certifications; NIHSS must be included in submissions.
• Capable of handling a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7, with previous charge nurse experience preferred.
• Be able to float across Med Surg and Orthopedic units as needed.
