Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) for a fast-paced behavioral health unit. The incumbent will play a crucial role in patient care by conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and their relatives to gather comprehensive case histories.
- Plan and provide nursing care tailored to the needs of patients.
- Make nursing diagnoses based on the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend appropriate treatment options.
- Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health professionals to design and implement effective treatment plans.
- Administer psychotropic medications and document patient reactions and responses.
- Coordinate further medical attention when necessary.
- Assist clients in understanding emotional disturbances and accepting treatment options.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for both staff and patients.
- Monitor and assess vital signs and manage pain treatment effectively.
- Document all patient information accurately in medical records, adhering to physician's orders.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and maintain high standards of recordkeeping for treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results.
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, and entering progress notes into the computer system.
- Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and the public by responding promptly to requests for assistance or referrals.
- Current New York State RN License.
- CPR Certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a psychiatric setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact positively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to manage stressful situations and maintain composure.
