DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse
- Acute Dialysis with at least 1 year of dialysis experience, NY RN licensure, and Epic charting experience for a hospital-based dialysis unit.
- Acute inpatient dialysis unit within a hospital setting
- Cares for patients with acute renal failure requiring hemodialysis
- Day shift schedule Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with a combination of 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts
- Rotating Saturday shifts, 5:30 AM to 6:00 PM, either 8 or 12 hours depending on department need
- Possible on-call coverage Monday through Friday 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM and weekends Saturday 6:00 PM to Monday 6:00 AM
- Floating required to all other dialysis locations
- Active NY RN license required in hand
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of dialysis nursing experience required
- Acute and outpatient dialysis experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in initiating and setting up dialysis treatment, cannulating AV grafts and fistulas, and managing tunneled/non-tunneled catheters
- Experience troubleshooting dialysis machine alarms (air foam, arterial pressure, blood leak, conductivity, temperature, ultrafiltration, venous pressure, etc)
- Knowledge of dysrhythmia interpretation and management, infection control, and symptom management for dialysis-related complications
- Experience with dialysis equipment including Baxter, Fresenius J/K, Gambro, and Prismaflex
- Skilled in administration of blood and blood products
- Responsible for full dialysis treatment cycle including setup, monitoring, and post-treatment care
- Manages potential complications such as air emboli, cardiac arrest, chest pain, clotted access, hemolysis, hyperkalemia, hypotension, and seizures
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted, though those living within 75 miles of the facility may be offered a lower rate
- Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
- Previous employees may only return after a 6-month system-wide separation period
