American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit, requiring 1+ year of experience and Epic charting proficiency, functioning in a PCT capacity alongside RN staff.
Requirements
- Current LPN license required if applicable
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- BLS certification required
- Epic charting experience required
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Skilled in blood glucose monitoring, feeding tube care, foley catheter insertion, medication administration (IM, SQ, oral, subcutaneous), oxygen administration, wound care, and vital sign monitoring
- Competent in cardiac monitoring, EKG/ECG acquisition, and telemetry
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and specimen labeling
- Able to communicate patient status changes effectively to RN/MD
Responsibilities
- Work on a 14-bed overflow unit accommodating ED boarder patients, functioning as a med/surg tele unit
- Unit is flex space located within the GI Endoscopy department, with patient census fluctuating based on demand
- Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Float to other med/surg units based on unit needs and patient turn
- On-call requirements based on staffing needs
- LPN will function in a PCT capacity and may not act as a primary resource on the unit
- Epic EMR experience required
- Responsibilities include patient admissions, ambulation assistance, bathing, mouth care, and monitoring intake/output
- Uses SBAR communication for ED patient transfers; verbal report expected for other transfers/admissions
- Navy blue/white scrubs required
- First-time travelers accepted for this position
- Minimal RTO accommodated; additional RTO requests beyond initial submission cannot be granted
- Local candidates not accepted within 75 miles of the facility
- Facility maintains a 6-month system-wide return policy for previous staff
- Facility will attempt to accommodate block scheduling, though it is not guaranteed
