Pediatric Cardiac ICU
- Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Shift Details 39 hours per week 13-hour rotating Day/Night shifts: 6:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 7:00 AM On-call/callback required Holidays and weekends per unit needs Scheduling intent is to avoid mixing days and nights within the same week; split is approximately 50% days and 50% nights Assignment duration: 6-9 months
Position Overview 16-bed acuity-adaptable Pediatric Cardiac Care Center Focused on critically ill pediatric congenital cardiac patients Advanced Practice Providers serve in a primary covering provider role Fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment Candidates must be comfortable managing patients with congenital heart disease, including complex anatomy and physiology
Patient Population & Clinical Scope- Pre- and post-operative pediatric cardiac surgical patients
- High-risk single ventricle physiology
- Open chest management
- Arrhythmia management
- Vasopressor support
- External and internal pacemakers
- VA/VV ECMO CRRT
- Occasional care for adult patients with congenital heart disease requiring medical or post-operative management
- PICU boarder patients with a variety of critical care needs
Role Characteristics Knowledge of ICU procedural skills is essential; however, the role is not primarily procedural Collaborative work alongside physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other multidisciplinary team members Ideal candidate is adaptable, collaborative, and thrives in a dynamic critical care setting
Required Qualifications- Minimum 2 years of experience in Pediatric Cardiac ICU as an APP
- Knowledge of complex cardiac anatomy and physiology
- Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner
- Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing
- Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing
- Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- BLS certification from AHA
- PALS certification from AHA
- Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification
- NP experience
- Required - 2 Years - NYS license
- Required - Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care experience
- Required - 2 Years
