YAI is a network of agencies offering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities a comprehensive range of services across all ages. Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Medication management and medical oversight
  • Oversee training of direct care staff
  • Document medical appointments and medical issues
  • Inform care managers and parents of any medical changes
  • Provide on-call support (telephone only) on a rotational basis

Minimum Qualification Requirements including education, experience, licensure/certification, etc. and essential physical capabilities (e.g. lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.) Minimum requirements of specific positions may vary by assigned function and/or contract. Please refer to applicable regulations/contracts for all position requirements. All Registered Nurses (RNs) must meet the following minimum requirements: NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License

Preferred Qualification Requirements (desired requirements beyond MQRs above)
  • Med/Surg experience
  • Experience with intellectually and developmentally disabled population
Compensation

Compensation is from 85,000 USD to 95,000 USD per year. Additional compensation in the form of an experience differential and bonuses.

Schedule:

M-F 10a-6p. Working in our Group Programs offer:

  • Reduced Caseloads (Max of 8 per Program)
  • Minimal Direct Care (Medication Management, etc.)

Our Roots YAI was launched in February of 1957 out of a small school in Brooklyn, New York. Initially staffed by Co-Founders Bert Mac Leech and Pearl Maze Mac Leech alone, their pilot program served just seven people. According to Bert, from its very beginning YAI has been dedicated to providing innovative services for the I/DD (intellectual and/or developmental disabilities) community.

Mac Leech envisioned a, "total life adjustment approach, emphasizing personal growth, social responsibility, employment goals, and the development of independence for the individual." At a time when institutional living was the norm for people with I/DD, this vision was nothing short of revolutionary.

YAI Today Today, YAI has a team of over 4,000 employees and supports over 20,000 people in the I/DD community. This extraordinary growth shows the ongoing need for these important services, and YAI’s success in offering them. YAI supports people with autism, Down syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy, among others. Operating throughout Downstate New York and Northern New Jersey, YAI now offers more than 300 programs for people of all ages.
