Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols, while complying with laws and regulations in maintaining patient information. The position leads the coordination of care for patients, applying effective decision‑making skills based on patient/family needs and priorities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families to promote decision‑making based on assessment of medical histories, symptoms, examinations, diagnoses, conditions and treatments.
  • Communicate and collaborate concisely and continuously among the clinical team, including physicians, both verbally and in documentation, focusing on patient problems and needs, implementing and monitoring care plans, and recording and communicating patient conditions, to optimize health outcomes.
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge‑planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Apply collaborative teamwork and leadership as a member of an inter‑professional team to coordinate patient‑centered care for quality patient and unit outcomes.
  • Utilize information, resources and technology in providing patient‑centered care nursing processes, including patient/family, evidence‑based practices, safety and process improvement.
  • Exemplify professionalism by applying lifelong learning; contributing to the science of nursing, participating in governance, sharing knowledge to expand the scope and base of best practices, building the ethical, moral and regulatory base for best practices and processes of patient and unit care.
  • Perform nursing care according to the population served on the unit as referenced in the Administrative, Scope of Services Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in line with current basic nursing scope.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Job Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing or diploma.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers; BLS waived if certified in ACLS and PALS depending on department.
  • Current Registered Nurse license to practice in Kansas.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Preferred: ACLS within 6 months of hire (for ED, ICU/2

    East or other units).
