Position: Laboratory Analyst 1
Location: City of Rochester

Analyst will be responsible for analyzing samples using manual and more complex instrumental techniques in accordance with prescribed methods and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze samples using manual and complex instrumental techniques in accordance with prescribed methods and SOPs.
  • Perform all duties associated with sample analysis of complex laboratory tests.
  • Analyze, interpret, and review sample results and peer‑review other data.
  • Perform all quality control requirements associated with the methods and maintain appropriate records.
  • Work within established quality control parameters and specified turnaround times.
  • Record bench‑level observations and keep records in bound and electronic notebooks.
  • Troubleshoot and fix instrument malfunctions.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and a clean, orderly work area at all times.
  • Exercise laboratory safety practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related science is preferred.
  • ICPMS/ICP‑AES/ICP‑OES experience strongly preferred.
  • 1–5 years of analytical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to initiate corrective action without prompting and assist co‑workers when necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to effectively perform duties under pressure from large sample volumes and short turnaround times.
  • Must work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use (or learn to use) Laboratory Information Management System.
